You are wrong when you think there is no authority over learning the Chinese language online.
You are about to read this article where you not only get lots to know about the online Chinese language courses that are available but also the best courses you should try.
Note: This is not an affiliate blog. I am not promoting any links to make money. I am writing this post with a good intention to provide pieces of information to my reader about the existing online Chines courses, which ones you can do research and try out.
Without wasting much time, here are some of the best courses in the Chinese language that you can take up online.
Yes, while doing my research on this topic, I had an urge to create my own online Chinese course for you guys(ponders strongly over this)…
Too much talking now…
Now they claim to learn Chinese in 5 minutes per day that too for free. I am sure they have a lot to offer. This is not an easy language, they have been promoting their 5 minutes course for quite some time now.
They are an old game. They have some fun and effective lessons that would be easy to learn.
2. Udemy’s – Chinese Made Easy L1: Understand 65% of Chinese in 10 hours
An oh my God. 17000+ students around the world have taken up this course online.
Udemy is by far the most famous for online courses in many languages, subjects, fields. They offer a variety of courses in the Chinese language. This one is the most taken up course.
Some of the topics this course covers are :
Names, family, numbers, measure words in Chinese, so on…
3. Udemy’s – Beginner Mandarin Chinese (HSK 1) Course A
I took the liberty of choosing HSK course here. Since we all are concerned about Chinese language learning, there might be many of us who are aiming for HSK exams. This one is the HSK level 1.
These guys have taken the pain in creating a very well organised course in HSK 1. Being a Chinese trainer myself, I know how important it is for Chinese learning students to clear HSK exams.
This course includes almost all the words and grammars from HSK level 1.
Udemy courses give discounts on many of their courses.
4. Coursera – Peking University
Coursera is another famous online portal for language learning just life Udemy. I am not sure which one of these two is mostly searched.
I had a student many years back, she had taken up this course for online Chinese from Peking University. I think this course was free back then.
She had given me access to this course, and I must say, these courses are well organised, video quality and voices are clear.
This course is designed by a native course instructor. She uses a blackboard, an old classroom method to teach this course.
She also has some advance Chinese courses on the same platform where she speaks in Chinese to help students in getting more comfortable in listening.
5. BBC – British Broadcasting Chinese language course
Doesn’t matter if it is BBC or CPC (pun intended), this course is a good one.
This BBC Chinese course includes topics for everyone. They have ‘Chinese for Kids’, ‘Adult Chinese’, ‘Chinese for beginners’. They even have Chinese Central TV- CCTV link on their website, just in case you wanted to hear the real Chinese mid-way learning the language.
I always listen to Chinese music while writing articles on my blog about Chinese language, it gives me a sense of connection. Yes, I am a Chinese music lover.
Continuing with the list…
This girl has taken efforts to build this one. She is young, vibrant, her points are very well explained. She has structured the course according to ‘grammar’, ‘HSK course’, ‘Kids Chinese’, etc.
I think she has videos on Youtube as well.
Disclaimer: She is a pretty Chinese. 🙂
7.Chinese Grammar Wiki
This one is my favourite. This may not be easily found on Google. The search term for this is ‘Chinese Grammar’.
This guy has written a book about this topic. This entire website is a concentration of his book. At some point, he does make you want to buy his books to get an in-depth understanding of the grammar and some more useful examples.
I think this is fair! But his site still has a lot of information about Chinese grammar. Ranging from HSK 1- HSK 6.
End of List
Initially, everything will be a dreadful experience because this is Chinese. I personally don’t promote students to start learning Chinese on their own.
There are reasons why I say this. Having trained hundreds of students Chinese language, I have realised beginners tend to make the common mistakes in sounds.
There may be some sounds in Chinese which already exits in your language, but not all. Here a trainer or an expert can help you make those sounds properly. You can also follow up with the internet to compare or for fun.
I have personally gone through many sites in so many years. There are many other sites which I have not mentioned here but they are equally good.
Do your research before buying these books or their online courses. Even if they are an authority site doesn’t mean they have a good Chinese course to offer.
I love to see so many people working hard to help people in learning Chinese. Nobody has time in today’s era to take an extra hour to go to learn Mandarin from an institute. I started teaching Chinese onine 5 years ago, still I don’t get time to make my course for online students.
Maybe in few months I get some inspiration to make my own course or schedule a webinar for you people.
